From a sponsored skateboarder to a park ranger, from the sandstone walls of Eastern Kentucky to whiteout blizzards in the Rockies, from one metal collarbone to countless pursuits of adrenaline – one might start to think William Stephen Fenwick is auditioning for the most interesting man in the world. Unfortunately, no deals have been officially discussed for Will’s appearance in the next Dos Equis commercial, but what can be confirmed is that a camera has accompanied Will through each experience that reminds him what it means to be alive.
While his adventurous habits derive from a family of backcountry homesteaders, prohibition-era moonshiners, and artisan woodworkers, Will’s conviction to create something beyond the ordinary was introduced to the bloodstream at ten years of age. A solid foundation was formed through years of letting an unbridled imagination run wild while embracing the gritty lifestyle of a traveling skate team. Whether it came to packing twenty skateboarders into a two-bed motel room or sending a two-week trek through the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada, Will began to notice that even though he lived for the experience itself, his passion was actually within documenting the experience altogether. Will dedicated his life to his craft, committing ten thousand hours of practice before he could legally drive, and one can only imagine how many hours he has applied since then.
Today, Will has over a decade of applied creative experience and has had the opportunity to turn his artistic vision into a full-time career. His ambition has led him to collaborate with 40+ musical artists as well as internationally recognized organizations such as Nikon, Budweiser, McDowell Mountain Music Festival, and even the Ryman Auditorium. Aside from his time as a professional photographer, cinematographer, and creative director, Will is an experienced WFA-certified outdoorsman, he published his first book in 2022 with 100% of profits donated to charitable organizations, he has placed in several prestigious international competitions, he temporarily moved to Washington state to expand his creative network, and has been publicly interviewed about his artistic journey several times.
